Dream Girl woke up with a cry of panic. After Star Boy stepped from the shower, she sat up in bed and said with trepidation, “I’ve had the strangest dream.”

Thom was nonplussed as he dried off his hair and got dressed. “Nura, dearest, you know you don’t just ‘dream.’ Your subconscious makes predictions. Dreams are mere drunken ravings compared to what you get.”

He half-opened his eyes, groggy from a deep and dreamless sleep, and he looked into the pillow. Blue, he thought. When did I last change the sheets? I could have sworn I put the green set on last.

His alarm clock seemed to be blinking next to the bed, intruding on his sluggish brain. Blinking? he thought. Must have had a power outage in the night. Just as well that I have no clients I need to see today.

Another depiction of my original characters Silverbird (also Silver and Jim) and Windrider (also Windy and Sue). They're from my short story "A Gift on Awakening," soon to be expanded to a longer, episodic tale.

I commissioned this view of them from *Nempatriarch (Santiago) out of wanting to see them chasing each other through the sky. We don't have nearly enough scenes of winged humans fully enjoying their gift! He brought forward that feeling beautifully and with skill.

Their flight in this traditional drawing creates a sense of their feathers actually being moved and skewed by the wind — much more so than digital renders from tools such as Poser tend to do.

If every feather is neatly in place, it's not nearly as interesting. Instead, Santiago creates a real sense of their being in a mid-air chase.
